Last week, in collaboration with Longboard Living, Uncle Funky’s board shop hosted an epic event showcasing original artwork by Canada’s own Adrian Hayles, inspired by his time in NYC.

“In collaboration with Adrian, we have developed the Ball Point Series. Originally designed on raw wood longboards with ball point pen, Adrian used the architecture of Toronto’s landmark buildings as letters in the word “Toronto”. This became part of a limited edition run of 100 “Toronto” Thymeless decks by Longboard Living. The Series moved to another city very close to both of us, New York. The New York / Toronto Longboard communities are very culturally rich and dependent on the amazing environments and people that surround us.”

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months we thought we’d give a shout out to our homie Marcus Bandy, founder and editor of wheelbase magazine.
Wheelbase is one of the most in touch news sources to hit the net in a while. Marcus delivers scrumptious West Coast skate news (as well as global happenings) in a clean and exciting fashion. Bandy is an all around bad ass who shreds just as hard as the subjects he photographs.
Downhill Festival of Slope - Colombia 2011

Competition took place in the capital on October 16-17, 2011 and consisted of downhill skateboarding, street luge, and a freeride competition. Racers from around the world reached more than 80 km/h on the 1.4 km course in the Columbian forest in Bogota’s National Park.
Despite the heavy rain the second day of semifinals and finals, spectators and participants enjoyed a world-class competition, and after two intense days of skate, riders from every corner of America and the world were sufficiently stoked out of their minds. We look forward to more coverage of this year’s event later this year!

Thanks to Juan for the pictures and help with coverage!
